Embracing Education in Women

 Once upon a time education was considered just for males and the rights for women to emancipate were cero. Nowadays we are thriving to make history different  for our grandchildren to read about, since more than a decade there are more women engaged in universities than men. Also slowly we are occupying more important jobs in society and making a positive impact as doctors , teachers , government staff and even astronauts. 

The importance of education remains in the society that we are constructing in order to make a positive change for our society and impact in a better way all kinds of situations that now we as a society are facing. 

I hope to encourage every female out there to keep going and fight for her rights and dreams by educating herself so she can conquer everything she wants, and be an example for our daughters and for all women that we can. 

What can you do now that we were not able to do a year ago

A year ago we didn't appreciate the most valuable things as they were. Instead we learned that vulnerability is around us and that a car is not worthy if we cannot have the health to drive it.  A vacation is not exciting if there is fear of losing some of our family members, and if we may drop an ordinary routine we can feel like we are living a life without meaning .

I'm very grateful today about life, health, family, work and friendship, and for me these are the most valuable things.

We definitely evolve and learn how to be grateful with simple things that life brings like being able to breathe without an oxygen machine. The way of how we adapt our work from a distance, and at the same time dealing with reality of being more closely with our loved ones . How not to lose the calm in the uncertainty of a world that was locked down and the fear that comes with it . It was a very challenging year , and definitely Covid taught us that we are always able to accomplish what we want in life as long as we have good health.

Challenges you face when learning/teaching online

When we talk about teaching as well as learning online it is no secret that this new  field we are facing comes with new challenges .Since it is natural as we go in some new directions to overcome problems in order to succeed . Being a teacher or either a student in this 20th century era can lead a positive as well as practical life style as it is online learning. Today I want to consider not only the positive but also some negative outcomes that come with it. 

First of all, it is no secret that we tend to struggle with technical difficulties since some of the time we don't count on reliable internet connection as well as software or hardware problems that could limit our learning process .

Second and no less important, is the lack of physical interaction that comes with online learning, being able to interact online, means you cannot go to an actual classroom and cannot share with your coworkers, as well as your classmates , so this will lead us facing new illness such as personality disorders like depression and anxiety, also lack of commitment of social behavior. 

Last but not least, how to engage our students and teachers to be motivated to be present, participating in and  actually understanding the class is challenging . Since it need passion and dedication the secret would be to fall in love in what you are doing and make a commitment.

Moreover online learning is something that has come to stay and we should adapt as well as learn new strategies that can help us as teachers to improve our techniques in education and adapt it to the new learning online era.

Tips to work online as student to avoid problems

Working with new tools and paradigms comes new problems and technicalities for teachers as students. Today I will show you some tips to work online as a student and avoid these problems.

Here are some tips that could be useful to teach your students or kids  in order to promote a good digital citizenship and avoid problems.

1-Privacy first; It's very important to teach our children and students to protect their identity and their location, and don't share all the information on the internet. Now with social media, it's important to highlight that location should be hidden as well as where you study or personal information from your life or parents life.

2- Be authentic; It means to encourage students to have their own identity and way of thinking, to never copy others. Incentivizing creativity in order for them to be authentic and don't plague someone's work it's necessary and important.

3-Behavior; In order to set a good classroom environment, we need as teachers to establish rules and manners so students can behave in a proper way during online sessions.

How to be a digital citizen

We are in a very exciting digital era, we should encourage the use of this wonderful tool as it is the internet to get knowledge and evolve in our field, in that case I can refer to education being digitizing and how after Covid we use the digital world and internet to impart knowledge, For the health of knowledge of  course we have to  establish  certain rules in order to be a successful and positive experience . As we have rules and boundaries in real life and in a classroom, we should give an example and learn certain rules and how to set boundaries for us and for whom we interact in order to be a good digital citizen or a good digital student.

First we might encourage students as well as people who are enjoying the digital world to be careful and responsible. Once your information is out there it is like you have gone out in a parallel dimension and are in front of a million others that you should respect and treat as well as you would like to be treated .  Being respectful and responsible about how you write, interact or comment in someone's space and how you can be a positive and authentic person could help you to leave a good impression in the digital world.

Also it's important to protect your privacy, not sharing all your private information and location on the internet since it could lead to consequences such as robbery of your identity or robbery of your belongings or thoughts.

To be a responsible digital citizen you should care about the way you comment or participate in sites as well as applications, setting a good image and promoting respect, treating others as you would like to be treated and setting an example in ethics and morals would make a positive impact. Afterall we have rules and boundaries in real life and in the digital world we should learn certain rules and how to set boundaries for us and for whom we interact in order to be a good digital citizen or a good digital student.

Tools that can be used in online assessment

Nowadays there is a lot of tools that help teacher, students and parents as well to get the job done and really think outside the box.Here i will let you some of my favorites some far: 

• White board of microsoft

It's a tool that helps teachers as well as students to use a board in the Microsoft window so it helps us to interact and explain topics by writing it like we are in class.

• Worwall

It's a site for teachers so they could give a revision or test their students with very playful and interactive activities.

• Google Apps

Docs,Slides,Sheets,google drive ,and form , are fantastic tools that let us interact , teach and create content ,as well as ,monitor and evaluate our students work.Through google app we can work simultaneously ONLINE  with our co-workers or students in order to achieve our goals.

• Jamboard

Virtual and very colorful boards that actually encourage creativity and let our classroom to definitely think and interact about their own personal thoughts, brainstorming ,gathering and sticky notes.

Integrating Technology into teaching

Since technology enters our life, it is no secret that it helps us to feel more connected and updated in what is happening in the world. As a matter of teaching students can also benefit from learning through technology, especially after COVID times and lockdowns of schools. As teachers we have been fortunately challenged to fusion learning into technology and set up a start for a not so far future.

Technology can actually help to encourage active participation in the classroom. Using technology in my opinion, such as; a computer, tablet, or other type of devices and applications can help transform traditionally dull subjects in education into interactive and fun activities.

As we integrate technology into teaching we are going to be able to incorporate different learning styles and apps in sites so we can engage our students to get knowledge through technology.
