My thoughts about teaching/learning.

 

Since I was little, I would put all the bears and dolls in front of me sitting near each other and teach them. As I was growing up, I used to teach my brother and help him with assignments, believe it or not I enjoyed that I could get him to actually understand an idea. From that very beginning I knew I wanted to become a teacher. Time passes by and life puts me in another direction. I wasn't able to study what I like or perform my dream job at that moment.
 
Later, as I became a mom, my daughter taught me a valuable lesson: it is never too late to pursue your passions in life. After all, as parents, we strive to improve our ability to teach and instruct our children on a daily basis so that they can learn as they grow. If I may define what is education to me, it would be the ability to enlighten a human being with knowledge, thoughts manners and ways to set proper values and methods to apply in a classroom as well in life; after all, we are constantly learning from the day we were born until the day we die.
 
All I can say is that in this present moment, my aim of education, is to make a positive impact in people’s life through imparting knowledge in order to shape them to become a better version of themselves. I see myself in this role as a professional with a set of ethical and moral values and a great positive personality. As student’s role they need to develop the intellectual ability to ask themselves whether a criteria is right or wrong in the class to have their own opinion in their classroom as well in other areas of life. In terms of methodologies, personally, I believe that our methods will evolve as we do. I want to be the kind of teacher who encourages class participation and discussion, and as I go through my career, I will be able to develop and apply all the tools in order to benefit my future students the most. 

As for the curriculum, I expect to teach the lessons or units that the institution will recommend in accordance with both, the learning standards, as well as, the objectives, based on what they should be studying, such as lessons, assignments, presentation and, of course, tests, assessments, to evaluate the approach and learning skills of the students. On the other hand, my own personal principle for a teaching curriculum should be how to implement emotional intelligence skills for the students so they can achieve their academic goals as well as their personal life goals, with the help of positive psychology.

Moreover, as future experts in the field, we have the honorable responsibility of influencing our students, who will eventually become members of society and, perhaps, make a difference for a better nation, subsequently, the world.
